About Barbara Barton
Early Childhood Education is my passion and life’s work. Through out my career I have: taught children from toddlers through early elementary in traditional, Montessori and special curriculum settings; taught adults and young adults; and lived and worked in various cultures and settings. Also, I celebrate diversity of all kinds.
My personal pedagogy is based on the understanding that both children and adult learners bring a rich life experience and prior knowledge to the classroom. I am aware that I only have enough
time with the students, staff, and peers to spark passion for life long teaching/learning, a love of diversity and to strengthen self worth.
I bring this perspective to the role of teacher, speaker or guide.
Experience: Early Childhood Classroom teacher over 15 years; professor at Three Rivers Community College for 10 years and director and teacher at the Montessori Teacher Institute for 7 years. My depth of knowledge has continued to expand. I present those strategies, practices and activities which have been successful and build those further with what I learn from other practicing teachers in the Early Childhood and Montessori Community.
